Preventive effect of Actinidia valvata Dunn extract on MNNG-induced Gastrointestinal Cancer in Rats

چکیده
Gastric cancer remains a major global problem. In 2008, 989,600 new stomach cancer cases and 738,000 deaths occurred, accounting for 8% of the total cases and 10% of total deaths, respectively (Jemal et al., 2011). Notwithstanding the global declining incidence of gastric cancer, mortality is continuously rising in Asian countries (Hu et al., 2004). Surgery is considered as the gold standard for localized gastric cancer, but most cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. The five-year survival rate of patients with advanced gastric cancer for surgical treatment is less than 40% (Rasul et al., 2012). Recent primary prevention strategies for gastric cancer focus on behavior modification, including the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, reduction of salt intake, increase in food containing protective factors (fruit, vegetables, soybean products, non-fermented soy-foods,whole-grain) and vitamin C consumption, abolition of smoking, and chemoprevention (Tsugane et al., 2004; Tsugane et al.,

Total Saponin from Root of Actinidia valvata Dunn Inhibits Hepatoma 22 Growth and Metastasis In Vivo by Suppression Angiogenesis
The root of Actinidia valvata dunn has been widely used in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), proved to be beneficial for a longer and better life in China. In present work, total saponin from root of Actinidia valvata Dunn (TSAVD) was extracted, and its effects on hepatoma H22-based mouse in vivo were observed. Primarily transplanted hypodermal hepatoma H22-based mice were used t...

Objective(s): Gastric cancer is the first and second leading cause of cancer related death in Iranian men and women, respectively. Gastric cancer management is based on the surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In the present study, for the first time, the beneficial effect of saffron (Crocus sativus L.) aqueous extract (SAE) on the 1-Methyl-3-nitro-1-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG)-induced gastric c...
متن کاملHepatoprotective Activity of the Total Saponins from Actinidia valvata Dunn Root against Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Liver Damage in Mice
The protective activity of the total saponins from Actinidia valvata Dunn root (TSAV) was studied against carbon-tetrachloride- (CCl(4)-) induced acute liver injury in mice. Mice were orally administered TSAV (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) for five days and then given CCl(4). TSAV pretreatment significantly prevented the CCl(4)-induced hepatic damage as indicated by the serum marker enzymes (AST, ALT...

Two new triterpenoids, 30-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-2alpha,3alpha,24-trihydroxyurs-12,18-diene-28-oic acid O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester (1) and 2alpha,3beta,3,30-tetrahydroxyurs-12,18-diene-28-oic acid O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester (2) were isolated from roots of Actinidia valvata Dunn. Their structures were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic studies. Both these two new compounds ...

This study was conducted to assess the preventive effect of aqueous extract of Berberis integerrima Bge. root (AEBIR) on liver damage and oxidative stress induced by diabetes mellitus in rats. Forty male rats were divided into 5 groups as follows: 1- normal (N); 2- normal + barberry (N+B) (they received barberry root extract for 6 weeks); 3- diabetic (D) (they received Streptozotocin (STZ), 65 ...
